You may have heard of a procedure called “abortion pill reversal” and wondered what this means, how does it work, and if it’s even effective. In this blog post, we will strive to answer some of these common questions.

What does this mean?

The abortion pill reversal is a procedure that works to counter the effects of the medication found in the abortion pill. The goal of this procedure is to reverse the effects in order to actually prevent an abortion from occurring.

How does it work?

First, the abortion pill is actually more than just one pill. To learn more about the abortion pill itself, check out our blog here. Essentially, when a woman takes the first abortion pill, this pill works to block essential progesterone from sustaining the baby. This progesterone is what helps the baby grow inside the womb. The next pill is what causes the uterus to contract and expel the fetus.

If a woman has only taken the first pill in the abortion pill procedure and is having second thoughts, it is possible to reverse the effects of the pill by receiving more progesterone into the body. This is typically done through oral pills or shots. By replacing the progesterone that was being cut off by the abortion pill, the pregnancy is sustained. Please note, in order for the abortion pill reversal to be effective, it must be taken as soon as possible and typically within 72 hours of taking the first abortion pill.

Is the abortion pill reversal actually effective?

The simple answer is: yes. If the procedure is followed properly, the abortion pill reversal procedure is highly effective in reversing the effects of the first abortion pill. There is a national organization called Abortion Pill Rescue that has been able to help hundreds of women reverse their abortions.

We have all made decisions that we later regretted. Sometimes, women go ahead with an abortion and later realize that is not truly what they wanted. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about abortion pill reversal, check out abortionpillreversal.com
